The wedding of Julie and Susannah was really special as it ran over two days in two amazing settings and venues. On Day One the girls got married with close friends and family around them at the stunning Kennels (known as the sylish Clubhouse for the Goodwood Estate) and on the second day (the day after, the day after) a lovely outdoor celebration was held at the rustic White Horse Pub in Chilgrove. Both days were very special and very chilled. Susannah and Julie were super happy with their wedding photos saying
“We absolutely love the photos and can’t wait to find some time to spend more time going through them and sharing them. Thanks again for taking such wonderful photos, we loved having you as our photographer and being part of our day”.
When Susannah and Julie first got in touch with me about their two day Sussex Gay Wedding at the Kennels and the Whitehorse, I was so excited – they were planning the most beautiful intimate wedding with two whole days of celebration, at two amazing venues with a subtle golfing theme running throughtout. Susannah and Julie are the loveliest people and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!
The Ceremony Day at the Kennels
I turned up at the Kennels, where the girls had chosen to have their ceremony, and the place was humming quietly with golfers teeing off and the Kennels staff wonderfully looking after the wedding guests. Susannah wore a lovely print dress and Julie wore a beautiful vibrant blue dress and they both looked so gorgeous. The girls had spent the morning getting ready at the Goodwood Hotel just down the road from the stunning Kennels which were (originally built in 1787 as the Kennels for the Duke of Richmonds’s prized fox hounds! At its hight the Kennels was the most luxurious dog house in the world!).
The Wedding
The wedding ceremony took place in the Music Room, and was a romantic intimate ceremony. They had some beautiful readings, which brought pretty much everyone to tears. The girls rings were lovingly delivered in a golf ball! After the ceremony everyone spread out onto the gorgeous terrace overlooking the stunning woods and parkland for bubbles and canapes. Afterwards they retired back to the Music Room which had been transformed into the most elegant of dining rooms for a lovely lunch.
Day Two at theWhite Horse Pub Chilgrove
The wedding reception took place at the quirky White Horse Pub, which was adorned with bright colours and lanterns outside along with the vintage van bar and scary fox heads wearing tierras inside! It was wonderful!
It was a beautifully sunny day, which was perfect for the guests mingling outside on the terrace enjoying seeing and meeting old family and friends and the listening to the fab sounds of the Indigo Jazz band. While the guests enjoyed canapes and cocktails, the couple mingled while I took candids. One of my favourite photos from the afternoon is of the mini golf, which kind of summed up the lovely, fun relaxed vibe of the day.
During the drinks reception guests played vintage garden games including croquet, horseshoe throwing and mini golf, which gave the afternoon a really chilled feel. For the wedding breakfast everyone then ajourned inside for a lovely meal, and it was absolutely delicious. After the wedding breakfast there were some heartfelt speeches, then everyone migrated again outside to the warm summers evening and guests had fun taking their own photos with the polaroid camera and dress up stuff. They also had sparklers, which lit up the warm night. Another lovely day.
