Hackney Wedding at the uber-cool London Fields Brewery

“We love them all! We’re over the moon. Thank you so much for being part of our day. We’re really looking forward to designing the album too…absolutely love the pictures and so do our friends and family”.

I was immediately drawn to Richard and Will when they got in touch to ask me about their Hackney Wedding at London Fields Brewery photography. they had plans to be married at the Stoke Newington Town Hall followed by a party at the amazing London Fields Brewery. I so love shooting Hackney weddings, having lived in this coolest part of London for years. These two lovely fellas managed to plan and organise their whole wedding in just one month! Impressive stuff. They also liked doing things their own individual way which really resonated with me, this included going on a pre-honeymoon to New York and South America before the wedding!

Match made in heaven.

The two loved up grooms were so fab to be around and great fun for the whole day. They love to travel, take boat trips and hold hands with each other! American Richard had told friends after just 3 dates with Will that he knew he was the one! The guys are so cute together and told me some of the favourite things they like doing together…

“We love going out and dancing on our own, just the 2 of us. It’s better for our friends too because we’re pretty obnoxious to be around in a cute way of course. Honestly, there’s nothing we don’t enjoy doing when we’re together”.

Groom Prep at the Leonardo Royal Hotel

The guys decided to get ready together, just the two of them plus me of course! at the lovely Leonardo Royal Hotel, which is a stone’s throw from St Pauls Cathedral. So after chilling with the boys and taking some prep images (all candidly of course) we then walked around the corner to St Paul’s for some photos outside…. I am not into posing at all, it’s not my style I would much rather the photos be very natural and organic. Miraculously the hordes of people disappeared into thin air as we approached and the tourist hot spot that St Pauls usually is, became quiet and still for a few casual photos. The guys were super happy (as was I) with the awesome St Paul’s fronted image I captured. (This image was to become one of their favourites and was also used as a double-page spread in their wedding album). Then it was time to jump in a cab and head for Stokie for Richard and Will to get married.

Stoke Newington Townhall Ceremony

Wow! The Stoke Newington Townhall really blew me away. It’s glamorous art-deco staircase and elegant interiors are simply gorgeous. The Council Chamber Ceremony Room has beautiful original walnut panelling which made for fab light and photos. The townhall describe it as…

“one of the most spectacular vintage wedding venues in London”

and it certainly lived up to that statement. Friendly, helpful staff also left a lasting impression. After the lovely and moving ceremony, it was outside for confetti shots with the most brilliant pink confetti that seemed to float in the air forever! and then on to Clissold Park for friends and family groups photos. After all of their friends and family had departed for The Gate Restaurant in Islington (lured by the Vegetarian and Vegan delights and fizz) Richard, Will and I went for a stroll and photos in the light drizzle of Clissold Park before jumping in another cab and heading for The Gate as well.

Party time at The Arches London Fields Brewery!

I love the party time of weddings and this exceptionally laid back and very cool venue had a brilliant sound and lighting set up that was just made for a wedding party and or a club night! Very touching, emotional and hilarious speeches set the tone early on and then the dance floor was rammed. The sun had set early just before 7pm so our golden hour shots ended up being a brisk urban wander at dusk under the arches catching some of the best of atmospheric grungy Hackney.

What a gorgeous, fun day and night and a superb choice of venues for their Hackney Wedding. Congratulations Richard and Will on your marriage thank you so much for choosing me as your wedding photographer. I wouldn’t have missed it for the world.
