Lambeth Town Hall micro wedding with an uber-cool street art wander by Brixton brides

“Thanks so much Liza! We LOVE the photos! We’ve just had a quick look through and they’re brilliant! We love the slideshow too”! Lucy & Louise

Lambeth Town Hall Mico Wedding

When Brixton couple Lucy and Louise first got in touch with me to plan their Lambeth Town Hall micro wedding, they were thinking of an ever so slightly larger style celebration. But unfortunately, a certain virus put paid to their original plans! They had a rethink and were determined to still get married. Lucy said that they needed some “much-needed joy for 2020”! So they decided on a much shorter and smaller day. Their plans changed from a wedding of 50 or so guests in The Council Chamber to a small intimate ceremony in the magnificent Circular Hall. And what a lovely day it was too.

The Grade II listed Lambeth Town Hall was refurbished in 2018 and looked amazing with a lovely square, glass walkway and of course stunning Edwardian architecture.

two brides before they get married

I meet the girls and their small select group of friends and family in the court yard, where everyone was all ready for their Lambeth Town Hall micro wedding. Lucy and Louise had got ready separately so it was lovely to see them reunite just prior to the ceremony.

The Circular Hall ceremony in masks

The ceremony was short but meaningful. Lucy and Louise made their entrance via the beautiful Sicilian marble staircase. All the guests were seated safely apart and wore masks as per the Covid restrictions. It didn’t seem to matter though. Everyone was super happy for Lucy and Louise and were just pleased to be there. The girls had arranged Zoom for other friends and family who had to miss out.

Bubbles and chit chat and group photos in the beautiful room followed. The stunning Edwardian architecture and stained glass made a beautiful backdrop for both the ceremony and the photos that followed.

Street Art wander through Brixton

I was lucky enough to have an hour or so with Lucy and Louise as we slowly wandered through Brixton for their couple portraits. It was all very relaxed and we took advantage of some of the awesome Brixton street scenes and art we were wandering past.

We popped over to the Brixton Academy – a favourite haunt of the girls.

Intimate reception at the amazing “Upstairs at the Department Store”

Then it was on to their next port for the day – their intimate drinks and evening reception at Upstairs at the Department Store. Wow! what a venue!

This absolutely stunning “members only” Brixton club has to have one of the best rooftop terraces in London. The iconic “Dome” turret has the most stunning glass ceiling which took my breath away. (I do admit to being a bit of a sucker for a beautiful architectural feature in a building)!

We had time for me to take some more piccies of their guests, cake and the Lucy and Louie before I had to whiz away!

What a fabulous Lambeth Town Hall micro wedding. Lucy and Louise looked beautiful and it was so good to see much joy on a rainy October Saturday in 2020! Thank you so much, Lucy and Louise, for having me as your wedding photography. Congratulations!
